2007 NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship Winner

March 5th, 2007

Paul Wasicka is the winner of the 2007 NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship, claiming $500,000. Wasicka also finished in second place to Jamie Gold in the 2006 WSOP Main Event. A restaurant/bar manager, Paul turned into a professional poker player after placing 15th in the 2006 World Poker Tour’s $25,000 no limit Texas Hold-Em Championship.
The Heads-Up Championship started with 64 players. It was a high-profile event, with Johnny Chan, Gavin Smith, and Brad Booth also participating. Wasicka was offered the seat in the tournament due commitments that prevented Phil Hellmuth Jr. from attending.
