Poker Amateur Wins WPT Invitational
42 year old amateur poker player Adam Weinraub from Orange County secured his title as champion of the 5th annual WPT Invitational, after defeating celebrities like Vince Vaughn and Don Cheadle. Typically, WPT Invitational players are either professionals or celebrities, making Weinraub’s victory especially unusual.
Weinraub has pledged to donate 20 percent of his $100,000 prize to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.
CEO of WPT Enterprises, Steve Lipscomb, states that “this year’s event is another testament to the fact that celebrities and amateurs who love poker are improving to the point that they can compete against the pros at top levels of the sport”.
