Jamie Gold Will Not Be Penalized by WSOP
2006 WSOP winner Jamie Gold recently admitted to committing two infractions during the 2006 Main Event in a February 24th interview with Steve Friess of the New York Times. It was Gold’s first interview since the settlement over half of his 2006 WSOP winnings.
Gold admitted to exposing a hole card to an opponent and to telling an opponent he had the top pair and top kicker after the opponent had bet. Those types of incidents happen frequently during cash games, though they do violate the WSOP tournament rules.
After examining videotapes and speaking with Gold, WSOP officials decided that Gold did not deliberately violate tournament rules and that penalties would not be invoked, since no tournament officials witnessed the incidents, nor did they take action at that time.
