JC Tran Named Player of the Year by WPT
Three final table finishes in three months, including sixth place in the Gold Strike World Poker Open, second in the L.A. Poker Classic, and first place in the World Poker Challenge, earned JC Tran the title of “WPT Player of the Year.”
When the WPT Championship began, Tran was already a top contender for the Player of the Year Award. After his top two competitors, Daniel Negreanu and Joe Pelton were knocked out of the tournament early on, he was virtually guaranteed the title.
Tran says, “winning a WPT title was one of my goals coming into poker, and accomplishing that is a big step in becoming a force in the poker world.”
Tran joins an elite group of recipients of the “WPT Player of the Year” title. Former title winners include Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren, Daniel Negreanu, and Gavin Smith.
