PPA Supports Sensible Internet Gambling Legislation
Last Thursday, House Financial Services Chairman, Barney Frank introduced the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act of 2007. The bill would make properly licensed operators exempt from the 2006 ban on online gambling and allow US players to legally bet online.
The PPA issued a press release strongly supporting the bill. Alfonse D’Amato, former US senator and current PPA Chairman of the Board, stated, “Congressman Frank’s bill is a common sense approach to internet gambling. Licensing and regulation will allow us to sort out the most responsible sites from those engaged in unscrupulous activities and practices.”
