Big Sunday tournaments break records for the year

May 22nd, 2007

With the games played and the numbers in, it’s now official - this Sunday featured two record-breaking online poker tournaments.

Full Tilt Poker hosted the $500 buy in main event to its current FTOPS series, which drew over 3,700 players and ended up easily exceeding the 1.5 million guarantee with a prize pool just shy of 1.9 million.

While impressive, those numbers were dwarfed by the Poker Stars Sunday Million. With 250k added to the prize pool as part of Stars 10 billionth hand celebration, over 10,000 players battled for a prize pool of nearly 2.5 million.

Other rooms saw spillover benefits, with both Party and Ultimate Bet hosting the largest fields of the last few weeks for their Sunday tournaments.
