Biggest Turn-Out Ever for Poker Stars

May 22nd, 2007

Proving that poker popularity will continue to rise, Pokerstars.com broke its attendance record last week at their regular Sunday tournament.  The huge playing field generated a hefty prize pool of $2.4 million.  Further, in celebration of dealing their 10 billionth hand, Pokerstars.com contributed an extra $250,000 to the prize pool.

It took 11 hours of play to produce the big winner.  The champion of Sunday’s tournament was “tanbai,” an online player from New Jersey.  He earned $187,000 for his first place finish.  It was a personal record - he had never placed higher than 8th place in a tournament before Sunday.
