Louisiana bar poker bill shelved in the Senate
A bill that would allow for legal poker games in Louisiana’s bars and eateries was shelved by a procedural move in the Louisiana State Senate today on a vote of 22 to 14.
The bill, sponsored by Rep. Warren Triche and approved by the House, would permit tournament-style poker for players over 21, provided that the establishment does not operate or profit from the tournament. The Senate vote means any further action on the bill is likely to be pushed back to the next legislative session.
