Ultimate Bet launches online heads up championship

Heads up matches online seem to be all the rage - first there was PokerStars with their $10,000 heads up matches, and now Ultimate Bet is making a big fuss about their heads up tournament series.

Priced a bit less stratospherically than the Stars matches at $500+30, the UB matches will consist of fields of 64 that will be narrowed down over the course of 5 weeks. Winners of each round of 64 will get an entry into a year-ending heads up championship match, where players will battle for the right to play Phil Hellmuth in a heads up match for 30k.

“This opening series officially puts UltimateBet in a league of its own,” stated UltimateBet spokesperson George MacLean. “With our new heads-up competition and the upcoming expansion of this unique heads-up format, we’re separating the contenders from the pretenders.”
