Hellmuth, Brunson and others playing for 9 million dollars in golf tournament

August 14th, 2007

hellmuth.JPGPhill Hellmuth wrote this week in his blog about preparations he’s making for the 9 million dollar golf match that he and several other poker pros are taking place in today at the Rio Secco. The tournament, which will be filmed by ESPN and broadcast in late October, is to be held in a scramble format, with a one-tie, all-tie structure and no carryover. Each of the nine players (divided up into teams of three) is putting up 1 million dollars on the match.

Phil’s team consists of himself, Russ Hamilton and course owner Billy Walters. Other participants in the tournament, as reported by WickedChops Poker, include Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson, Eric Lindgren, Josh Arieh, Daniel Negreanu and Dewey Tomko.
