PokerNews named official content provider for the Asian Pacific Poker Tour

PokerNews announced today that it has been selected by PokerStars to be the official update provider for PokerStar’s Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT).

The APPT currently has three upcoming tournaments scheduled, in Manila, Seoul and Sydney. Future dates are expected to be announced shortly.

The agreement between PokerNews and PokerStars is one in a series of exclusive media deals announced recently. Just a week or so ago, CardPlayer announced a similar exclusive deal with WPT. PokerNews and CardPlayer battled over tournament update rights for the WSOP, and these deals should be seen as an extension of their increasingly fierce competition for control over the poker media market.
