Poker Player’s Alliance relocating to Washington D.C.

The Poker Player’s Alliance, the largest organized lobbying group focused on the issue of establishing legal, regulated online poker in the US, announced two major changes today - the relocation of the group’s headquarters to Washington D.C., and the replacement of current PPA President Michael Bolcerek.

The move to Washington makes sense for the group, as a lobbying organization has much greater access and flexibility to political leaders when centralized in the nation’s capital as opposed to all the way across the country. The replacement of Bolcerek with John Pappas was likely motivated by the move to Washington, as Pappas has nearly a decade of experience with policy construction and lobbying in D.C. in a variety of capacities.

In a statement released on the PPA Website, PPA Chairman Alfonse D’Amato had this to say about the changes: “This is an exciting time for the PPA and our members. The PPA has become an influential force fighting for the rights of poker players to enjoy this game of skill. There is wide support and momentum in the U.S. Congress to enact sensible legislation to regulate online poker and provide the necessary safeguards to all players. It is vital that the PPA centralize its efforts in D.C. so we can best serve the interests of our 660,000 plus members.”

Your image: Active, possibly a little frustrated
Opponent's image: Very aggressive preflop
Your hand: Ad Ah

The setup: You've had an uneven session so far and it's been a bit since you won a hand. This hand there's a poster in the hijack preflop. The table folds to him and he checks. You raise $200. The button folds and the SB three bets to $825. The BB and hijack fold, and you flat.

You have a good amount of history with the raiser. He is a very active three bettor and seems to have your number in recent sessions. He is very aggressive against your preflop raises, especially if there's a squeeze opportunity. He's also a pretty steady continuation bettor.

You flop about as dry as can be:

The SB leads for $985 into $1750. What's your play?
