EU grants France and Greece extensions to reply to charges of protectionism

The European Union has granted France and Greece two month extensions to reply to steps taken against the countries by the European Commission. The EC took action against the countries based on allegations of protectionism, specifically barriers that France and Greece had erected to the entry of foreign gaming corporations into their domestic markets.
Both countries now have until October 29th to reply to the EC explaining the corrective steps they have taken to bring themselves in line with EU policy regarding the free movement of goods and services throughout member nations. If the EC is not satisfied with the remedies, it has the option of suing the countries in front of the European Court of Justice.
