France considers online gaming, not poker

French and EU officials are presently in Brussels discussing the relaxation of policies controlling online gaming activities in France. French casinos are eager to allow online poker, as they feel that their customer base is drawn away by international online casinos accessible via the internet.
Barrière and Partouche, the two largest land casinos, are lobbying the government on their behalf. Any negotiations between the parties will likely last at least through next month.
