After an argument with his girlfriend, a 4-hour predawn drive, and 21 hours of play, real estate investment manager Mark Sandness picked up $53,199 at Northern Lights Casino in Walker, Minnesota.

“The final table was really a grind, but it was fun. They were all good players and really good guys,” said Sandness in an HPT interview.

The “good guys” were:

2. Lawrence Barbetta — $26,600
3. Joe Big Bear — $17,100
4. David Baxter — $13,300
5. Ray Babb — $11,400
6. James Mutchler — $9,500

The next Heartland Poker Tour stop will be October 12-14 in Black Hawk, Colorado. Qualifiers begin October 1. Players must enter through qualifiers as Colorado law prohibits direct buy-in.
