Unnamed US trade official calls compensation amounts “exaggerated”

A US trade official said yesterday that claims for compensation under WTO regulations are “faulty and exaggerated.”
If this were true, it makes no sense for the US to threaten to “clarify” aspects of its WTO agreement to exclude the equality of international with domestic online gaming.
The US had said, prior to the WTO finding that compensation for financial losses is necessary, that it did not owe anything in reparations. Following the finding, the US offered a package at a fraction the amount of claimed losses.
Antigua has been granted an extension for its reply to the compensation package offer because the US had delayed responding until just before the deadline.
