World Championship of Online Poker: Rumors of impropriety at the main event final table

Related Articles
It’s becoming almost a knee-jerk response of the online poker community to crank up the rumor-mill after a major online tournament event or series, and it appears that the wake of the World Championship of Online Poker at Poker Stars won’t be any exception, as accusations and suggestions of investigations are already floating around major forums regarding the final table of the WCOOP.
At this point, all allegations are fairly baseless, and there hasn’t been any concrete confirmation or named sources.
First up is the suggestion that sixth place finisher nitbuster is actually well-known pro Josh Arieh playing under a different screen name. A thread on NeverWin bases that allegation on comments made by Daniel Negreanu during the WCOOP webcast. Arieh’s presence on the final table, if true, is noteworthy both because it would seem to violate Star’s policy regarding multiple accounts and also because Arieh had a run-in recently with Stars regarding collusion at cash game tables.
Second, and more damaging (altho equally speculative at this point), is the accusation that WCOOP main event winner TheV0id is being investigated for multi-accounting. A long thread on 2+2 establishes some basic facts of the issue, but devolves largely into commenting quickly after the first couple of pages. The core of the matter: the name associated with TheV0id is believed to be the sister of poker pro Mark Teltscher, and Teltscher’s account and TheV0id are rumored to have both played the WCOOP Main Event from the same IP.
PokerStars has yet to release any official comment on the matter, and we’ll update of anything new emerges.
