SWAT team busts into Texas poker room; 13 people arrested

The Houston DA charged 13 dealers and operators with “organized crime” last Wednesday after a bust into a high-security poker room.
Players were not arrested but were subpoenaed for an upcoming trial.
The SWAT team was necessary for police to gain entrance to The Palms poker room, as its security was so tight that players used electronic access cards, similar to those now used at most hotels, to enter the poker room. A private security team was outside at the time but could not legally prevent authorities from entering.
Police shut down 14 tables and seized all cash on the premises. The Houston Police Department has stated that its month-long investigation showed there to be an average of $10,000 per day.
This may just be the first in a series of Houston poker busts.
