Antigua to make case at Caribbean Multi-National Business Conference
The 12th Annual Caribbean Multi-National Business Conference is being hosted this year in St. John’s, Antigua, and Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer says it will be used as an opportunity to pursue the business of online gaming with both the private sector and US government officials.
From The Antigua Sun:
“We have no doubt that every opportunity that we will get, we will seek to reinforce it and this certainly would be one of those opportunities,†Spencer stated.
“You can rest assure that every effort will be made to ensure that Antigua’s case is put and put clearly and unequivocally to not only congress persons but other personalities that could be of influence in this particular matter.â€
Spencer went on to say that he is looking forward to engaging all of these individuals at this conference stating that the aspect of financial services will be a topical issue.
Besides that, Minister of Finance and Economy Dr. Errol Cort said that the government sees the conference as creating an avenue for the business sector to make very valuable contacts. “From what we have heard in respect of the outcome of the conference in other jurisdictions, we are very optimistic that our goals will be received,†Cort said.
The conference is expected to draw approximately 300 persons from the governments and industries of the US and the Caribbean, says Spencer. “[T]he emphasis at this very important conference [is] being placed on business competitiveness in a global economic environment; investment by foreign, regional and local firms; the role of the Caribbean Diaspora in North America and Britain in Caribbean regional and national development.”
The conference will held from November 8-11 in the Antigua capital.
