J. Todd of Perspectives Weekly has released an interesting update on Virginia representative Bob Goodlatte and the tens of thousands of dollars he has received from the National Thoroughbred Racing Association. Representative Goodlatte wrote most of what became the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which includes a specific exemption for the online horse racing industry.
In 2006 after UIGEA was passed and we started making videos exposing what he was doing and the money he was taking… He actually returned checks back to the National Thoroughbred Racing Association… In 2006 Mr. Bobby Goodlatte started a political action committee, or a PAC, called the Good Fund. At the same time he stopped taking contributions from the National Thoroughbred Racing Association in his name, the Good Fund coincidentally started receiving equal amounts of donations from the National Thoroughbred Racing Association — so he’s trying to hide where he’s getting his money from.
