Online poker players received news this week that two payment methods will soon no longer be available. First to bow out was payTru, whose users recently got this email advising of the end of the card program at Poker Stars.

We regret that the ability to use your payTru VisaDebit card at PokerStars will be coming to an end in the near future.

As of December 10, 2007 at 12:00pm EST, you will no longer be able to request cashouts to your payTru VisaDebit account from PokerStars. All cashouts requested before this time will be processed by December 13th.

As of December 14, 2007 at 12:00pm EST, you will no longer be able to make purchases with your payTru VisaDebit card at PokerStars.

You may still use your payTru VisaDebit card to do the following until it expires:

- load funds onto your payTru VisaDebit card
- use your payTru VisaDebit card to withdraw funds from ATMs
- make purchases using your payTru VisaDebit card anywhere Visa is accepted (other than at PokerStars)

We thank you for participating in the payTru VisaDebit card program at PokerStars.

In addition, the following email was recently sent out toFirePay users:

Effective Monday, December 10, 2007, FirePay will no longer allow funding, spending, or payment transactions. FirePay account holders will still be able to access their account to review their online statement, register and validate their bank account, and withdraw any existing balance free of charge for a 150-day period ending on Thursday, May 8, 2008. After this date the FirePay website will no longer allow account access and all further inquiries will have to be directed to FirePay via email at info@firepay.com. Any requests for withdrawal of a remaining balance after Thursday, May 8, 2008, will incur a $25 payment handling fee. Please sign in to your account now at www.firepay.com to confirm whether you have a balance and, if so, to initiate a free withdrawal.
