Online poker rooms shattering traffic records in 2008

Online poker got off to a fast start in 2008, as several rooms and the industry as a whole experienced record highs of real-money simultaneous players in the opening days of the new year.
Traffic-watch site PokerSiteScout is reporting that on January 7th, the total combined real-money peak traffic of online poker rooms exceeded the previous record of 95,000 players, a high that had been set only days earlier.
Individual rooms and networks that saw records broken this week included OnGame, Everest, International Poker Network and PKR. Ongame hit the symbolic mark of 10,000 players at peak for the first time, and industry giant PokerStars surpassed their own record with a monster tally of over 23,000 on January 6th.
