Neteller still has approximately $13 million waiting to be claimed by former US account holders, the company announced late last week. $81 million has already been paid, with the remainder held in trust accounts and awaiting claimant requests. Withdrawals of owed funds through the Neteller website must be submitted by Jan. 26.
In addition, Neteller announced that it will be making its final payment to the US on Jan. 16. The $38.25 million payment will bring the total paid under the prosecution agreement to $136 million.
Neteller also paid $1.75 (Canadian) million to a vendor which had claimed breach of contract. The settlement also includes any potential claims.
With all that out of the way, or nearly so, Neteller appears to be optimistic about the new year upon us. President and CEO Ron Martin announced:
Considering the significant challenges that our Company has faced during the past year, I am pleased with the performance of the business in 2007 and I am excited about the prospects for 2008. We have a number of key strategic initiatives which will be launched in 2008, commencing this week with the rebranding of our consumer-facing site, www.neteller.com. These developments represent a step change in the products and services we can offer our merchants and customers. I am confident about our strategy and that these initiatives will be reflected in our performance for 2008.
