Poker Stars and Full Tilt cooperating with Harrahs to offer Heads Up Poker Championship seats

In an announcement that’s a bit more significant than the typical online poker promotion, PokerStars.net revealed this week that they’ll be offering the opportunity for a PokerStars player to fill one of the four seats not already assigned for the 2008 Heads Up Poker Championship (a list of the sixty assigned seats follows at the end of the article). The news comes just days after Full Tilt Poker announced a similar promotion.

The interesting angle here is that Harrah’s has seemed very cautious about any sort of cooperation with US-facing online poker rooms post-UIGEA. Both promotions are being offered through the dot-net versions of the rooms, but the open endorsement and active partnership (one assumes, since there’s a limited number of seats for the HUPC) between Harrah’s and the two online poker rooms may suggest some sort of sea change in the relationship between US casinos and online poker rooms.

Both Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars are running the promotion as a multi-stage freeroll tournament. It appears that the remaining two seats will be filled by satellite winners at Caesars Las Vegas.

Here’s the list of the 60 seats already assigned. Thanks to Pokerati for being the easiest copy of this list to find:
