David Chiu stuns Gus Hansen to win WPT Championship

Gus Hansen looked like he had his fourth World Poker Tour title wrapped up at the WPT Championship. But David Chiu made an amazing comeback in heads-up play to win the event and the $3.4 million top prize.
Hansen had run over much of the final table, amassing a more than 5-to-1 advantage over Chiu by the time there were just two players left.
Here’s how it got heads up, according to cardplayer.com:
Hansen held a huge chip lead after this impressive run. He averaged an elimination every 5.5 hands along the way to heads-up play. While Hansen had been quite busy busting four players, David Chiu had chosen to sit back and relax. During the first 22 hands of the final table he played two hands, and won only one of them.
In the final hand, all the money went in on the turn, when Hansen had T8 for two pair, against Chiu’s A9, giving him top pair and a flush draw. An ace came on the river to give Chiu the victory.
Hansen earned $1.7 million for second place.
