Daniel Negreanu wrote in his latest blog posting that he is considering playing Brian “$tinger 88″ Hastings in an online match worth $200,000.

According to his blog:

This guy Stinger, a guy I’ve played no limit hold’em with in the past said that he might be willing to play me a head up game for $100k in $100-$200 no limit hold’em, as well as a $100k freeze out in $500-$1000 HORSE. I’ve never seen him play HORSE before, but doubt that he’d be able to beat me at that game. Hold’em is a different story since it’s his “bread and butter” game.

It’s not an ego thing for me at all, I just wanna play! I don’t mind playing $200-$400 really, but would rather play a little higher so if that means I have to give some action in no limit hold’em online, then that’s what I’ll do.

Whole thing here.

There’s also an entry at pokerkingblog.com handicapping the potential match:

Hastings is, without a doubt, one of the top online NLHE / PLO cash game players. Negreanu, on the other hand, has years and years of experience playing mixed cash games against some of the best players in the world. People assume that Hastings would have a big edge in No Limit Hold’em, while Negreanu would have the edge in H.O.R.S.E.

I personally think that Negreanu’s edge in H.O.R.S.E. is bigger than Hasting’s edge in No Limit Hold’em. People seem to think that Hastings would have a “huge” edge in No Limit Hold’em, but I don’t think that this would be the case. Overall I think that Hastings is a phenomenal No Limit cash game player, and would have an edge over time, but a much smaller edge than most people would think.

Whole thing here.

We’ll try to let you know when this goes down…it will be played on PokerStars, since Negreanu is plays exclusively at that site.

Daily Poker Quiz

Overpair on safe flop, no limit 6 max tournament - DailyHandQuiz

Game type: NL 6 max tournament, Full Tilt Poker
Your image: A little tight
Opponent's image: Very aggro
Your hand: Qs Qd

The setup: You're at a pretty active table in this tournament. This hand, UTG raises to 3x and change. You think about repopping when it gets to you, but you've seen the BB try pickup re-raises preflop several times, especially against the very aggressive player TUG who has been raising a ton of pots, so you decide to call. No luck - the rest of the table folds. You flop fine:

2c 2h 4s

UTG leads for pot. What's your play?
