Dealers at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut staged a protest over the weekend because of low pay and other problems in the workplace.
The dealers tried to form a union last year, but the casino has not acknowledged it.
According to a story at the Norwich Bulletin’s Web site:
Workers interviewed Sunday said their pay has remained stagnant at $4.25 per hour despite the casino’s financial success and opening of a new multimillion operation. Dealers said they also want Foxwoods to become a nonsmoking workplace and want tips, or “tokes” as they are called, from MGM Grand gaming pooled with those from the existing casinos and distributed evenly.
A similar rally is planned for Atlantic City with casino workers there on June 21.
