Two well-known players were signed by big online poker rooms on Day 3 of the World Series of Poker — Patrick Antonius was picked up by Full Tilt Poker, while Kathy Liebert signed with PokerStars.
Both players reached the final table of the WSOP’s first event, the $10,000 Pot Limit Hold’em World Championship. Liebert finished third, while Antonius finished seventh.
Antonius started turning heads on the poker scene in 2005, when he racked up $1.7 million in tournament earnings. The weekend’s final table was his third in the WSOP.
According to pokernews.com:
Antonius has since solidified himself as one of the most respected young players in the world, playing in high-stakes games everywhere — at FullTiltPoker.com under the online name “Finddagrind,” in Doyle Brunson’s famous “Big Game” at Bellagio, and even on the TV show “High-Stakes Poker.”
Full Tilt pro Howard Lederer was asked if this was ‘it’ for Team Full Tilt members, and had this to say “There are really only three guys out there that belong on Team Full Tilt. Daniel (Negreanu), Doyle (Brunson), and Patrik. Obviously, Daniel and Doyle have commitments, leaving Patrick as the one guy out there we really wanted. We’re thrilled to have Patrik join Team Full Tilt.”
Liebert returns to the site she once represented. The longtime pro has more than $4 million in live tournament earnings and a WSOP bracelet from the 2004 $1,500 Hold’em Shootout event.
According to pokernews.com
Liebert has one million-dollar payday to her credit (2002), and has garnered six-figure paydays on six other occasions, including $427,115 for her third-place showing in the 2005 WPT Borgata Poker Open.
Liebert will play on PokerStars under the name “Luckat”.
