Former Irish Open winner takes down WSOP event; Hellmuth third in HORSE

The 2007 winner of the Irish Open, Marty Smyth, won Event No. 50 at the World Series of Poker on Tuesday, taking down the $10,000 World Championship of Pot-Limit Omaha.
Smyth pocketed the first prize of $859,549 in the event, which had a prize pool of $3,581,400, the largest ever for a pot-limit Omaha event.
Michael “the grinder” Mizrachi finished third in the event after entering the final table with the chip lead.
Also on Tuesday, Phill Hellmuth finished third in the Event No. 51, $1,500 HORSE, just missing a record 12th WSOP bracelet. James Schaaf took down the event and the first prize of $256,412. Victor Ramdin finished seventh.
Ending today are Event No. 53, $1,500 Limit Hold’em Shootout and Event No. 52, a $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em event.
