PokerStars APPT Macau Final Table Set.
The Asia Pacific Poker Tour’s stop in Macau had a record-setting field of 538 players assemble this week for its Main Event. The tournament, which is being hosted by PokerStars, attracted Asia’s best poker specialists and other world-famous players such as Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein, and John Phan. They would all be battling it out for $450K+ first-place prize and the title of APPT champion.
Among the first-day casualties were star-studded players Shaun Deeb, J.C. Tran, and defending champion Dinh Le. Other players among the poker elite also met their makers on Day 1, with Doyle and Todd Brunson hitting the rail early, along with Barry G, Steve Sung, and Isabelle Mercier also making quick exits from the green felt. Day 2 and 3 would see much of the same, with the remaining 208 entrants playing down to just nine.
Former WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem would be one of the unlucky players to go out before the final table, as well as Quinn Do, Nam Le, and David Chiu also taking that long walk to the rail. By the time all the bustouts had concluded, it would be Singapore’s Bryan Huang who would be holding the chip lead heading into the final table. His stack is just over a million in chips, and he holds a slim lead over American Eddie Sabat.
