A documentary film Team PokerStars member and 2005 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Hachem will be released within the next few months by filmmaker Gil Cates, Jr. Cates Jr. - the son of acclaimed director and Academy Award producer Gilbert Cates - is most known for movies such as “A Midsummer Night’s Rave” and his recent poker flick “Deal,” will delve deep into the Aussie’s gambling career, as well as touch upon his upbringing in Lebanon and subsequent career as a physician turned poker professional.
The documentary will include footage from before, during, and after his win at the 2005 World Series of Poker, where he defeated Steve Dannenman heads up for the bracelet and $7.5 million. The movie, which will promptly be called “Pass The Sugar,” is expected to include guest stars such as Jennifer Tilly and Jose Canseco. Other interviews that will be featured throughout the film will also include many of his fellow poker pros who were around Hachem during his sick Main Event run several years ago.
Gil Cates Jr. is an avid poker player who has been involved in movies for well over a decade now, and has won 2 awards for his work. It is unknown when the exact release of this documentary will be known, but it should draw some buzz on many internet gambling forums when the time gets nearer to its opening.
