Full Tilt clarifies recent account closures

In the latest installment of his regular thread on 2+2, Full Tilt Poker representative FTPDoug has some answers for those players wondering about all of the recent account closures on FTP. For those of you not following, there was a rash of account freezings at FTP about a month or so ago. Players who had their accounts locked received a vague email from Full Tilt claiming that the player had violated FTP’s terms by using (unidentified) third party software.
Doug offered this clarification:
We put a lot of time and effort into improving our security systems. A good number of players were “busted” at the same time because of the timing of these new systems coming online. This is why there was an explosion of “my account is locked!” threads on 2+2 and other forums. All of these improvements were done with the players’ best interests in mind, and we certainly aren’t going around locking accounts indiscriminately. The few false positives we encountered were cleared. Borderline cases were cashed out and asked not to return. We’re doing everything we can to make sure innocent players aren’t bothered by the increased security, but we also aren’t willing to lower our security standards. It’s too important to our customers that we do everything in our power to ensure a fair game is being played.
Doug had more to say about the various posters who claimed their accounts were frozen unjustly:
A very small percentage of them were false positives (and the system has been tweaked accordingly). Some of the posts about it have been from those false positives, and some have been from very guilty players who are just fanning the flames to try to make us back down from the extra security we’ve been adding recently.
Other highlights: Doug says final table deal making at MTTs should be included within a few major updates.
