HUPC: Flack MIA Due to DUI, Round 2 Pairings and more

Popular Stories
It’s infinitely shorter than the WSOP, and so far the NBC National Heads Up Poker Championship has proved to be infinitely more entertaining, at least by a measurement of entertainment-per-hour. The big story on day one was who wasn’t there: Layne Flack, who had to drop out last-minute due to a DUI arrest. David Oppenheim took his place when first alternate David Chi couldn’t make it in time.
The other big story was the winnowing of the field to 32, but everyone knew that was going to happen. Oppenheim made the most of his opportunity and will play Phil Laak today. The brackets:
Don Cheadle vs. Paul Wasicka
Phil Ivey vs. Vanessa Rousso
Scotty Nguyen vs. Ted Forrest
Daniel Negreanu vs. Dario Minieri
Gabe Kaplan vs. John Juanda
Zigmund vs. Elky
Jeffrey Ishbia vs. Phil Hellmuth
Tom Dwan vs. Barry Greenstein
Eli Elezra vs. Erick Lindgren
David Williams vs. Scott Fischman
John Phan vs. Jerry Yang
Sammy Farha vs. Peter Eastgate
Kenny Tran vs. Jennifer Harman
Phil Laak vs. David Oppenheim
Gus Hansen vs. Huck Seed
Glen Chorny vs. Brad Garrett
