Bodog Gets Control of Bodog.com Domain

After two years battling in court, Bodog finally controls its own domain again.
The online poker room, sports book and casino announced that it once again has the rights to bodog.com after losing the domain in 2007. Morris Mohawk Gaming Group — which markets Bodog in North America — and 1st Technology, LLC reached the agreement on Monday, and ended all lawsuits regarding the issue between the two parties. The original court ruling incurred $50 million in damages against Bodog.
Currently, typing in “bodog.com” takes users to the interim domain for Bodog, bodoglife.com
“While the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group was not the judgment debtor, the MMGG is the exclusive licensee of the “Bodog” brand within the region and, as such, activities that impact the brand necessarily impact our businesses,” said Alwyn Morris, Chief Executive for the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, in a press release. “We are pleased to have worked constructively with 1st Technology and its principals to bring an end to this protracted dispute. This resolution will provide certainty and will also allow us to continue to enhance our technology base for online gaming in order to provide our users with unfettered access to the best technology.”
In an interesting related story, a case currently in the judicial system of Kentucky in which the commonwealth is attempting to seize the domains of online gambling and poker sites, lists “bodoglife.com,” but not “bodog.com.”
