In a trend that must have been disturbing for Full Tilt Poker, the main event of their latest series of tournaments had an overlay of more than $210,000.

Many of the events in FTOPS XII had seen overlays of various sizes through the course of the last couple of weeks. But even the series finale could not attract enough interest to meet its guarantee.

With 4,581 entrants, the event did not hit its guarantee of $2.5 million. Of each buyin of $535, $500 went to the prize pool, meaning just over $2.9M of players money was in the pool. The tournament did take in more than $160K in rake, so it could have been worse for FTP.

As of right now, 35 players are still player for the first prize of $432K.

With the series less successful than those in months and years past, changes are likely on the way for the next FTOPS — or at least smaller guarantees.
