Final tables are often long, drawn-out affairs at the World Series of Poker. But 20 hours? That’s how long the final table of the $50,000 HORSE event lasted — and it ended about 10 a.m. this morning after starting on Tuesday.

In the end, the winner was a bit of an upset in a field of poker’s brightest stars. David Bach, who’s previous largest score was about $250K, won his first bracelet and more than $1 million. In fact, the final tree players in the tournament had never won bracelets (Erik “Erik123? Sagstrom and John Hanson), while the first five out all had at least one, if not many more.

Bach’s heads-up play with Hanson lasted more than seven hours.

Here were the payouts:
1. David Bach - $1,276,802
2. John Hanson - $789,199
3. Eric Sagstrom - $522,394
4. Vitaly Lunkin - $368,813
5. Huck Seed - $276,610
6. Ville Wahlbeck - $219,655
7. Chau Giang - $184,087
8. Erik Seidel - $162,382

Two events came to an end: No. 52, a $3K triple chance no-limit hold’em event, and No. 53, a $1.5K seven card stud hi-low-8 or better tourney.

In the stud event, the winner was David Halpern, who had never had a WSOP cash of more than $10K. He actually wasn’t even planning on playing the event — he couldn’t get a seat at a cash table and decided to buy into the WSOP instead. That decision allowed him to turn his initial investment into more than $150K. Chad Brown (fourth) was once again denied in a bid for his first bracelet.

Here were the payouts:
1. David Halpern - $159,390
2. William Kohler - $98,550
3. Max Stern - $64,484
4. Chad Brown - $44,589
5. Matt Savage - $32,465
6. Zak Gilbert - $24,828
7. Brian Swinford - $19,901
8. Allie Prescott - $16,682

Another first-time bracelet winner was crowned in the NLHE tourney, as Germany’s Jorg Peisert took home the gold and more than $500K. Jason DeWitt was at his second final table of this WSOP, but finished second.

Here were the payouts:
1. Jorg Peisert - $506,800
2. Jason DeWitt - $313,227
3. Benjamin Gilbert - $205,180
4. Michael Noda - $142,035
5. Jason Somerville - $103,591
6. Michael Katz - $79,385
7. Karga Holt - $63,781
8. William Erickson - $53,622
9. Jack Watson - $47,070

Two events continued into their second day: No. 54, a $1.5K NLHE tourney, and No. 55, a $2.5K 2-7 triple draw lowball (limit) tourney.

John Juanda is at the final table of the lowball tourney, in search of his fifth bracelet. Also there is Nam Le, who is closing on $1M in WSOP cashes but still is looking for his first bracelet. Updates here. There will be 28 players returning to play for the first prize of $673K today in the $1.5K event. Updates here.

The final event before the main event started on Tuesday: No. 56, a $5K NLHE 6-handed tourney. In all 928 players registered, creating a prize pool of $4.3M and a first prize of more than a million; 160 players remain.

No events start today, and there will be a $5K Ante Up for Africa charity tournament on Thursday. The main event starts on Friday.
