The World Series of Poker wrapped up the preliminary action before the main event on Thursday, and it ended with a bang.

Event No. 56, a $5K NLHE 6-handed tourney, featured a first prize of more than a million dollars. And the winner was Matt “Hoss_TBF” Hawrilenko, better known for his high-stakes cash prowess. But Hawrilenko got his big breakthrough in live tourney action — he had won just under $300K live before this score. Heads-up play with Josh Brikis lasted just four hands.

Here were the payouts:
1. Matt Hawrilenko - $1,003,163
2. Josh Brikis - $619,609
3. Faraz Jaka - $400,526
4. Sean Keeton - $269,983
5. Jonas Wexler - $189,555
6. Matt Waxman - $138,394

So after 56 events, there is just one left, the biggest of them all. There are four day ones scheduled, with the first one today and the last one on Monday. Play will continue through July 15 — when a final table will be reached. The last nine players will come back in November, just like they did last year.
