Main Event Win Worth Over 20 Million For Phil Ivey?

Popular Stories
There are nine people who are still in the running for the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event title. If any of the eight not named Phil Ivey wins the title, they’ll pocket a cool $8,546,435 for their efforts. If Ivey takes down the tournament (betting odds have him at a pretty favorable 4-1 dog), he’ll take home that $8.5 million plus what shaping up to be another $10 million+ in bonuses and side bets for a total win that will likely exceed $20 million.
First, let’s not forget that Ivey has already taken home two bracelets this WSOP and about 400k in cashes. On top of that, he’s rumored to have won anywhere from two to twelve million dollars in side bets already as a result of those bracelet wins.
Not a bad start.
As for the Main Event, there’s the $8.5 in prize money he gets if he wins the thing, plus what’s rumored to be an additional $10 million from Full Tilt Poker (no confirmation on that, but we suppose it’s based on the $10 million FTP promised to pay to any seat winner who went on to win the WSOP).
He’s got a confirmed side bet from Tom Dwan where Dwan would pay off a million if Ivey wins.
Now, Andy Bloch has also confirmed a rumored prop bet that has him paying Ivey $2 million if Phil wins the bracelet (Bloch, says Wicked Chops, took 99-1 for 20k with 2,400 players left).
That’s another $13 million on top. So, if Ivey wins and the high end of all the rumors are true, the 2009 WSOP would end up being worth about $33 million dollars to Ivey, less his buy ins.
That’s not even counting any promotional deals he’d get (and we’re sure he’d get some nice offers) should he take down the Main Event.
He also reportedly did well in cash games, live and online, during the Series.
Ivey is a Full Tilt Poker pro. Learn more about the cash back offers we have at Full Tilt and several other rooms by submitting your email in the forum below.
