Two Months Two Million Episode Three: Krantz and Group Lose

Popular Stories
Episode Three of G4’s online-poker focused reality show Two Months, Two Million aired last weekend, and the results seemed to be negative for the players and viewers alike.
Dani Stern lost for the third week in a row, although his -33k result wasn’t a deep enough hole to earn him the penalty stunt for being the biggest loser - a relief for Stern, as it would have been the third week (out of three) that he was saddled with that dubious honor. This week that distinction belonged to Krantz, who dropped 80k. Roberts essentially broke even and Patel managed a 32k or so win, putting the team down $84,200 for the week.
The total after three weeks: $114,400 in the black, a nice win but far off the $2 million pace that is the show’s goal.
The general response to this episode has been lackluster, with many viewers complaining that the show felt unfocused and stuffed with what essentially amounted to novelty material. Krantz addressed (and buttressed) those complaints in a post on his blog:
“I thought this was by far the weakest episode. Too silly and far too pointless to come at this time in the series’ lifecycle. House Wars in and of itself is a pretty good idea - introduce some rivals, some new interesting characters, peel back the world and show that we’re not the only house of online poker players living in Vegas for the summer - but making it the primary focus of the episode undermines the more important storyline, the pursuit of the goal. This wouldn’t have been a problem if we had more time in the first two episodes to explore the quest, our motivations and our attack plan… but instead, I felt that structuring the episode like this didn’t give people enough to root for, and there just wasn’t enough at stake.”

The ‘house war’ he alludes to was a competition between the 2M2MM crew and Aaron “aejones” Jones, Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger, Daniel “Starkey” Starkey, and Steve “Zugwat” Silverman.
2M2MM is available for pay-download on iTunes. Youtube and Pokertube versions of the show seem to get yanked as soon as they’re posted. For those unfamiliar, the show follows four names well-known to those who follow online poker - Jay ‘Krantz’ Rosencrantz, Emil ‘Whitelime’ Patel, Brian ‘flawless_victory’ Roberts, and Dani ‘ansky’ Stern - as they work at an ambitious plan to earn two million bucks in two months playing poker while sharing a rented Vegas mansion.
